The Potential of Team Teaching
- Profile of Team Teaching in Latvia
Team - teaching is one of the priorities to organise a successful process of studies as the most important requirement for graduates to be competitive in the labour market is being competent in foreign languages on a professional level.
To provide fruitful studies, inter-subjects link must be established. The best solution for this is team work of teachers of different subjects in cooperation with students. Since the international relations of Latvia have developed widely and continue to develop there are many opportunities for students to get involved in different activities where competence in foreign languages is needed. It helps motivate the students to learn this subject.
While students are at the university, the task of the teachers is to ensure the process of studies that prepares the students in every field that will be of importance after graduation. This cannot be done by separate teachers qualitatively, and again team work is of great help. Our students are interested in participating in international exchange programs and having on-the- job training abroad, which is another reason for being motivated to learn.
We have successfully cooperated with several partners in teaching projects across different universities and faculties. I think that with the introduction of CLIL at our university the need for cooperation and team-work will increase and many teachers will get involved in such kind of teaching.
